There are two Independent Living Programs at Greenbriar Children's Center. Although both provide similar services, each is geared to a different youth population. These programs strive to assist youth in learning and acquiring the necessary skills to become productive, law abiding, self-sufficient citizens. The youth live in a supervised apartment setting or a supervised group home.
Transitional Living Program:
For youth ages 16-21 who are without support of family and/or other caretakers. Youth entering this program may have aged out of foster care or other social service programs, and be without a permanent place to live or are homeless.
Supportive Living Program:
This program serves strictly homeless youth between the ages of 17-21. The program also assists young teen mothers who have one child under the age of five years. These young mothers receive child care, parenting skills, child directed nutritional education and linkage to other resources.
