MELISSA EMERY APPOINTED TO GREENBRIAR CHILDREN’S CENTER BOARD OF DIRECTORS

SAVANNAH, GA - August 31, 2016 – Melissa Emery has been appointed to the 2016 Greenbriar Children’s Center Board of Directors, a nonprofit organization.

 

Emery grew up in the Chicago area before earning a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University, and a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern. She began her career in marketing at Procter & Gamble and Chesebrough Pond’s. Emery and her husband, Jim, started a marketing research company called Viewfinder. She is now retired and a full-time volunteer in Savannah. Emery was the first chairman and founding member of the Savannah Choral Society, as well as a founding member and chairman of the board for Savannah Friends of Music, and the Savannah Philharmonic. She is currently chairman of the Media Research Center Board of Trustees in Reston, VA. Emery is a member of Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church, where she recently retired from the choir after many years.

 

Greenbriar Children’s Center, a nonprofit organization, provides childcare, residential and family counseling services leading to the healthy development of children and young adults and to the strengthening of families, primarily in the state of Georgia. Greenbriar’s services include emergency shelter, residential care, runaway/homeless programs, independent living, family preservation, early childhood development programs and Project Safe Place. 

 

“I could not be more excited to join Greenbriar’s board,” Emery said. “I believe in the mission and goals of the organization and I look forward to being a part of this group and to helping the marketing efforts with our Executive Director Gena Taylor and the rest of the board.”

 

The 13-member Greenbriar board, led by President Douglas Reed, also includes Ray Truitt, Juanita Adams, Dr. Alfred Young, Elaine Campbell-Shavers, Richard de Wilde, Elizabeth Costner, Clemontine Washington, Salyon Johnson, Ann Levett, Cornelia Hall, and Jay Jaynes.
